In October 1995, members of Pi Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. formed a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization named the Pi Omega Foundation. In 2005 the name was changed to the Ivy Rose Foundation, Inc. With education and serving the needs of mankind being top priorities of the Sorority, the Foundation was organized to

receive and utilize donations, gifts, and grants from members and other organizations for charitable, educational, and scholarship purposes. Although the name of the Foundation changed, the primary mission remains the same.

The Foundation uses fundraising activities and other funding sources:

  • To provide and promote educational and cultural activities for the Chattanooga communities;

  • To stimulate interest and create an awareness of the need to elevate the quality of life for the disadvantaged in this community;

  • To cultivate and promote education by providing scholarships to high school students; and

  • To encourage mutual improvement and good will throughout the community.

Celebrating Our Scholarship Recipients

Each year, Ivy Rose Foundation, Inc. awards scholarships to deserving high school students who exemplify high scholastic achievement, leadership, exemplary character, and a commitment to service.

Eligible students show a demonstrated need, meet the qualifications outlined by the Ivy Rose Foundation, and plan to pursue higher education at an accredited four-year college or university. All scholarship applicants are evaluated based on their academic honors and awards, community service and organizational involvement, leadership experience, and a written essay.

The "Ida Collier Partridge Memorial Scholarship" awards two high school honor students a $1,000 scholarship each year for 4 consecutive years if students remain enrolled full-time and maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA. Mrs. Partridge, an international award-winning educator, taught in the Chattanooga Public School system for 35 years. She was a beloved teacher whose personal warmth and professional commitment enriched the lives of her students. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for 74 years, and served in many capacities, including chapter president. Mrs. Partridge passed away on February 1, 2021.
